The SilencerCo Maxim 9 is an integrally suppressed pistol configured to use Glock 17 magazines.
This idea came from one of the best suppressor manufacturers. Other companies tried to produce something similar but we didn’t get to have those guns on the market and now we can thank SilencerCo.
Frame construction
If you have to build a gun with this kind of configuration, it means you will have some extra structure on it. The pistol length can be reduced but even on full length, the gun is very practical and wieldable.
The frame of the SilencerCo Maxim 9 is Glass polymer and it matches perfectly with the forward structure where the baffles sit in giving the gun the feeling that the 2 pieces are one.
You have to take into consideration using Maxim 9 as target practice or as a home defence gun because the gun will be less loud than a normal 9mm pistol. However, the structure of the gun may not be the best candidate for a concealed-carry gun that you can have on you at any moment.
The Maxim9 is best for law enforcement or the military because of the compact size. We all know that having a suppressed pistol while trying to go around corners on a building for a police officer is not a normal thing to do.

Shooting review
It has a very easy to pull slide or better to say half slide due to the unique design of the gun. The serrations on the slide make it very easy to get a grip on and have a nice feeling using it. Only the part starting from the ejection port and back moves on the slide because the front is where the suppressor sits.
The added weight on the front of the gun gives to the shooter a big advantage because the gun will have minimal recoil. You can even compare the recoil as you were shooting a .22 very impressive pistol.
You can configure your SilencerCo Maxim 9 to be used with Truglos or Trijicon Glock format sights without any issue.
SilencerCo Maxim 9 has a good grip giving you a nice feel of the gun and a nice control on it while you shoot.
The frame has a pretty unique shape and texture. In addition, it is perfect as it gives you a very effective grip.
The baffle on the suppressed part has an aluminum shell but on the inside, they are made of Stainless Steel. You can remove them to reduce the suppression quality and gun length.
There is a 4-inch section of the barrel which is fixed and it doesn’t move. This reduces some of the recoils of the gun as well.
Almost all the controls are ambi: considering there is a slide lock lever on both sides and the mag release control can be reversed.
You can mount a red dot on it as well.
The fact that the SilencerCo Maxim 9 is compatible with Glock17 mags makes it less expensive to run with as well.
The problem of having a suppressed weapon
The issue with having a suppressed weapon is that the gun might overheat faster than a normal gun. SilencerCo Maxim 9 allows you to have 100 rounds going into it then you will start to have difficulties shooting. This happens because the gun, especially its frame, will become very hot and hard to get a grip on the gun.
You will need to clean this gun a lot as the suppressor will keep a lot of gunpowder residues inside the baffles also on the gun. That becomes a big issue because the residues will quickly gum on the internal rails causing failures.
Pros of SilencerCo Maxim 9
The best of the SilencerCo Maxim 9 is that you get a full-size pistol with a suppressor on it that will not cost you double the gun.
It is very effective and very accurate to shoot. It is easily customizable too.
Cheap to run with and it will work with both subsonic and supersonic bullets cheap 9mm cartridges as well.
Very easy to get mags for it as well.
Wonderful recoil and good ergonomics and a very easy gun you can be accurate with.
Cons of SilencerCo Maxim 9
The fact of it being suppressed means more maintenance work has to be done on the gun.
You can shot a limited number of bullets through it due to the fact that it easily overheats very quickly.
Some experts are complaining about how the trigger feels. According to them, it is one of the worst ones used on a 9mm semi-auto pistol.

In a conclusion, the SilencerCo Maxim 9 is a good gun. It is a brave concept but there is room for a lot of improvement in it.
The best choice for using a gun like this would be to use subsonic ammo to maximize the ability of the suppressor.
